GiGi’s Playhouse

GiGi’s Playhouse is based in Chicago, but has many branch locations all around the United States. The closest locations to Wilmington, IL are Bradley and Tinley Park. At GiGi’s Playhouse, there is a wide variety of different programs offered through GiGi’s, including: tutoring, GigiFIT Teen/Adult, Teen Tastic, and Fantastic Friends. They even offer career training programs, like GiGi Professional, GiGi University, and GiGi’s Career Studio Internship. GiGi’s Playhouse also hosts many events throughout the year like gala’s, interactive challenges, dance-a-thons and more. For more information, click GiGi’s Playhouse.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics is an international program that allows people with disabilities to compete competitively in a wide array of sports. The sports offered are: alpine skiing, athletics(track and field), basketball, bocce, bowling, equestrian, flag football, floor hockey, golf, gymnastics, powerlifting, snowshoe, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.  Grundy, Kankakee, South Suburban Cook and Will county are classified as Region E, and can be contacted at (708) 991-7564. the Miracle League of Joliet

The Miracle League of Joliet is a program that allows children and young adults with disabilities to play baseball. Volunteers are partnered up with players, and together, they practice and play games against other competitors. Although their Fall 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID-19, they have hopes that they will be able to return to play for the Spring 2021 season. Penguin Camp

Penguin camp, in Hudson, IL, is a six day long, overnight camp for children 10 and older who are interested in theatre and performing arts. Aside from the daily dancing, performing, and singing activities, Penguin Camp also include traditional camp activities, like fishing, canoeing, and more. The camp has trained staff present to administer any medications and help with any medical needs of any camper. Penguin Camp is directly affiliated with Easter Seals. Best Buddies

Best Buddies is an international group that allows people to join, chat, and build friendships with volunteers. They also offer inclusive living information, leadership development, integrated employment, and more. Best Buddies hosts events all over the world, like “Friendship Walks” and “Champion of the Year Gala”. Since COVID-19 has caused everyone to make changes, Best Buddies started virtual buddies. Volunteers are matched with people who are apart of the group, and they are given the opportunity to form a friendship within one another over email. For more information, click Best Buddies
