Joseph E. Fisher School: About Us

Joseph E. Fisher School

Joseph E. Fisher School is a therapeutic program located in Joliet, IL that services students, Kindergarten through Eighth grade within Southern Will County, who were having difficulty functioning in the general education environment following supportive interventions. The therapeutic program is designed to meet the needs of students emotionally, behaviorally, and socially. Students are provided with a structured and safe environment that facilitates the remediation of behaviors that inhibit a student’s academic and social growth. The program follows the Illinois Learning Standards and modifications are made in accordance with students’ IEP goals.

Joseph E. Fisher School is comprised of a program administrator, a psychologist, social workers, special education classroom teachers, a physical education teacher, and classroom assistants. In addition to classroom instruction, students are provided support through both individual and group therapy as well as through any additional supports identified by the IEP team. With these supports and services, the staff at Fisher works with students and their families to prepare them for transition when the student is emotionally, behaviorally, and socially capable.
